Despite the challenging circumstances, Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach confirmed that Bieniemy has maintained his involvement with the team, emphasizing that his family's well-being is his primary focus.

According to reports, Veach informed journalists that the organization has provided Bieniemy with a live feed of practice sessions, enabling him to observe and analyze drills from a remote location. Veach recounted an instance where Bieniemy contacted him during a practice, requesting to speak with Head Coach Andy Reid, who had facilitated Bieniemy's return to the team earlier this offseason.

The timeline for Bieniemy's in-person presence with the team remains uncertain following the shooting incident in Ashburn, Virginia, where his 57-year-old wife was allegedly shot by their 27-year-old son at their home. Mia sustained critical injuries but has since been moved out of the intensive care unit.

According to a press release from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Elijah has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.

Reports indicate that a person believed to be Elijah contacted law enforcement two days prior to the alleged shooting of his mother. During this call, he reportedly stated he was unable to access his weapons, claiming his parents “are withholding his weapons and that he’s a certified UFC fighter, so now he feels like he cannot defend himself.”

Court records reveal that Elijah's court appearance has been postponed until he undergoes a mental-health competency evaluation. The documents state that he “appears to suffer from significant mental health issues” and “does not appear able to assist in his own defense at the present time.”

Prior to his current return to the Chiefs, Bieniemy's career included stints with the Washington Commanders, the Chicago Bears, and the UCLA athletic program.
